After digging around in my pocket, I found the necklace I had bought earlier, intended for my wife.
"Here. Is this sufficient?" I asked, still grasping the necklace.
"Hand it over, let me see it."
"How do I know that you won't take it and run off or kill me?"
"Look, I was only doing this to make some quick money. Give me the necklace and run."
Handing her the necklace, I bolted out the door and ran through the forest. The trees whacking me as I made my way past them. A dim orange light was shining through the firs, it would be sundown soon. I considered taking a break, but the vague shouts of guards made me continue. If they caught me, I would be burned at the stake and accused of witchcraft. When I was unable to hear the guards any longer, I slumped to the forest floor, catching my breath. It was then that I realized I had no idea where I was. I had followed that girl the whole way here, foolishly not paying attention to my surroundings, despite my suspicion. The sun was setting quickly and it would soon be night. Suddenly, I heard the far off voices of my hunters. They were far, but if I could even hear them, they were too close for my comfort. I took off towards a clearing when I heard the guard's voices even louder.
"It went this way, men! After the witch!" The shrill voice of the guard rang through the trees. They were close. Looking ahead of me, I there was two ways I could go, right or left. I could hear the footsteps of the guards getting closer as I came to face two paths. A right one or a left one. I had a decision to make.
